Strawberry Festival at Cassibile - Siracusa
The municipality of Cassibile, in the province of Siracusa, will host, from April 29th to May 2nd 2010, the Festa della Fragola (or Strawberry Festival), an event that has become a custom in the town of Siracusa.
The fruit originating from the Alps and already present on the tables of ancient Romans, with the passing of time has spread out all over the world.
The aim of the Strawberry Festival is to increase the value of this wonderful fruit and the products that derive from its various transformations such as ice-creams, water-ice, doughnuts, milkshakes, jams, fruit salads ect.
Like in past editions, characterized by shows and horseback riding contests, this edition will be reported by RAI (Italian television network).
The ever increasing number of people will take the time to exchange opinions, points of view, traditions and different cultures making this a social event for those that participate in this event.
A large area with 3000 parking slots is available. Campers and tourist buses may also use this area.
The festival will not be limited to the 4 days of the event. In fact, during the period preceding this event, visitors may find stands located in the various tourist spots of the area (Siracusa, Noto, Palazzolo, ect.) that coincide with the opening of numerous vacation villages located along the coast that go from Augusto to Noto.

How to reach the event From Catania, after having crossed the S.P. 114 towards Siracusa (about 60 km) continue for Cassibile along autostrada (or highway) A 18 for about 10 km, therefore reaching the crossroads. Go towards Cassibile and after 500 m you have arrived at your destination. From Noto and Avola, take Statale (or state road) 115 for Siracusa.
